Site Upgrade to Drupal 5.1 Complete
I have completed the upgrade to Drupal 5.1. You may notice that some screens look a little different when you post new entries or enter comments. I tried to keep the site looking as close to the previous theme, but there may be some subtle changes, and even some glitches. Just let me know if you encounter a problem.
Now that this upgrade is complete, I can begin adding some new modules. I've already added a module to automatically make friendly URLs for all new entries, and applied the changes to existing entries that didn't have them. You should begin to see that all blog entries will have links reflective of the publishing date and the title.
Of special interest will be modules added to make it much easier to upload and attach images to blog postings without messing around with the gallery. In addition, I'll probably add the module to easily attach flickr photos to posts. After great debate and some comparison shopping, I've decided to start posting some of my photos to flickr. (For now, I'll probably continue posting most family photos here, but I'm considering spending the 25 bucks a year to get a pro account and use flickr as offsite storage for all of my photos.)
I'll also be looking at some cool stuff like a couple of wysiwyg editors that are out there. At the very least, I'll add the BBCode module, which I've found a very easy way to create links, images and basic text formatting without having to learn HTML.
I may also be able to enable anonymous commenting. This will probably have to be spam-filtered, moderated, or both, but I may go ahead and give it a try.
Not sure what other modules may be coming down the pike, but hopefully all of this will help make thegreenbag.com a more user-friendly and convenient place for all of us!
