We continued our Family Friday theme last Friday. In the morning, I hinted that I wanted to go Geocaching, and Teri suggested that we wait and go on Sunday, for Father's Day. We talked a little more, and when she said that maybe it would be okay to go on Friday anyway, I asked if that meant I could have my new GPSr now. I was fishing, but Marissa took the bait and blurted "I swear I didn't say anything!"
hehe
So, I got my new Magellan eXplorist 210 a couple of days early, though we didn't get to use it for Geocaching until Sunday, after all. nstead, we started our day with a bike ride around the block, and then headed off to go shop for some birthday presents and whatever.
Well, the "whatever" turned out to be an afternoon at the mall. This may not sound all that exciting, but since we never shop at the mall, it turned out to be a pretty good way to spend some family time out doing stuff. And shop we did. We did the full circuit, both upper and lower levels, of Twelve Oaks Mall in Novi. This mall had been a hangout spot for my friends and me in ninth grade, and Teri said she used to hang out there, too. Nowadays, we generally make an effort to avoid this whole area and its oversaturation of shopping outlets, but on Friday we had fun trekking around checking out all of the shops.
We capped of the day with the Family Fun Night event in the Ignited Center at church. All of the games, food service features, and other attractions were open, and they showed a movie in the Coliseum. We drifted in and out of the movie, which we'd already seen, raced each other on ATV Track, and Teri took on Dance Dance Revolution while I watched some serious three-on-three basketball.
So, we've done well so far - two great Fridays in a row to kick off the summer!

Webner Family Fridays
I think it's terrific that Mike and Teri made a decision to use their summer Fridays off for family adventures of one sort and another rather than just let those days get consumed with busyness. I'm really enjoying reading about how those Fridays have been spent -- keep the stories coming!
