I read the whole disclaimer chuckling and shaking my head that they feel they have to do this. What's wrong with people that they don't understand that when they do dangerous things sometimes bad things happen? Deal with it. But I'm afraid this story has a sad ending. I started exploring their website and learned that they've had to close the preserve to rock climbing because of a number of accidents that have required "full-on" rescue efforts. So there's no more rock climbing until they've had a chance to assess the situation.
I guess if someone I knew and cared about fell when rock climbing, I'd want a "full-on" rescue effort rather than to just say -- oh, well, that's the risk a climber takes -- let him lay there until he dies. But it sure does seem as if we have turned into a very risk adverse society from one that was built by people who climbed mountains and rafted rivers and crossed prairies at great risk of life just to get it all settled.
