First Formal

Howdy. I don't blog much; there's just too much to keep track of; but an occasion worth mentioning came up and I thought I'd share it... last saturday on the September 30th, I went to my first ever formal dance at school!! It was so awesome and my mom took pictures so maybe she can post them in the gallery. My dress had spaghetti straps and it was navy blue. I was so happy. Oh my gosh, I loved it. So cool!!

Marissa's First Formal

I was lucky enough to see Marissa's first formal when she modeled it for me when Allen and I were there in September. It's a beautiful dress, and Marissa looks lovely in it. Can't wait to see how you wore your hair, Marissa. We'll be looking for the photo(s). Love, Grandma Vicki

Marissa's first formal: A Spanish Quinceanera

Marissa, you look lovely in your formal. What an elegant dress! I was intrigued by the caption that says that the formal occasion was a Quinceanera. I've become aware of what a big occasion a Quinceanera is in the Hispanic culture over the last couple of years because there are so many people in this area who are Hispanic. I was recently visiting my friends who have a Bed and Breakfast in Calistoga and their housekeeper joined us for coffee and told us about all the plans underway for her daughter's Quinceanera. My goodness -- it's as big a deal as a wedding! Every aunt, cousin, niece, etc. in her family was involved in the planning. So tell us about the one you went to. Was this a school or church friend? You mentioned that it was a dance -- was there a live band? What kind of food did they serve? I'd love to hear more of the details!
