Thanksgiving 1950

The day after Thanksgiving! The ground is covered with snow. We had an early snow this fall. The girls will play in the snow most of the morning. We had Thanksgiving dinner at Dorothea's this year. I have so much to be thankful for I hardly know where to begin and certainly not where to stop. We have had a wonderful year. Our carpeting, television and chair are paid for. The girls have been in good health - I'm happier than I have any right to expect. It looks like a wonderful Christmas ahead.

Outside My Kitchen Window

A damp late summer morning. Outside my window this morning I see John Bader's car parked along the street. He went to California with Jim to attend Mary's funeral. She was just my age. Things happen so quickly sometimes! It's too damp to mow the lawn this morning - that can wait until tomorrow - today more sewing. This time for Vicki. They came home last Friday night. We were surprised they were gone 15 days and she had a wonderful time.

Outside My Kitchen Window

Vicki isn't home yet. They left 2 weeks ago today. Another beautiful day outside my window - a bit cool. I did lots of sewing this past week. Daddy got me a new coat for our wedding anniversary on Wednesday. I must fix it today. It's about 1 1/2 inches too long. Luanne and Susan are playing hostess to Jackie Howe of Akron this week. They'll all be here tonight.

Outside My Kitchen Window

Friday. Grandma and Grandpa left with Beachey's for a trip this morning. Vicki is still away - heard from her - having a wonderful time. I must start my school sewing today. I have lots of dresses to make. It was very hot yesterday when I mowed the lawn - this morning it's nice and cool - an autumn air.

Harrold's 40th Birthday

Saturday morning with a full day ahead. Harrold's birthday - he's 40 today. I'm having a bit of a party for him tonight, so must get ready. Vicki left yesterday for a long trip west with Snyder's. I do hope she's having a good time. Molly missed her terribly yesterday.

Outside My Kitchen Window

A beautiful, cool morning outside my window. The lawn is mowed - the birds are really singing. Daddy has been going to work early this week so I get a view of the morning. Luanne has been at camp 10 days now. I'm getting lonesome for her. I hope she isn't homesick. It's good experience for both of us.

Back to Work

Daddy's vacation is over. Monday morning and back to work. This week we got ready for Luanne's weeks at camp. I must do her hair - make pajamas. Molly lost her two front teeth yesterday, So now she looks ready for the first grade.

Trip Report

Here we are home again - we were gone five nights. We had a wonderful trip. Main points of interest were - Turnpike, Hershey, Pa., Shartlesville Inn, Clemen's house, Valley Forge, the Seashore, cruising Chesapeake Bay on a Ferry, Washington, D. C., Mount Vernon, picnic supper along the Potomac and then the results of a flood in West Virginia. Jenni was fascinated by staying in strange places. It couldn't have been a nicer trip.

Ready for Vacation

We get ready to leave on our trip tomorrow. The girls will be busy packing and planning. I have been ironing to finish up, some sewing to do and lots of packing. We're all hoping we'll have a nice time.
